Cooper’s last week as a 3 year old! I can’t believe he’s going to be 4 next week.
Says: The other day he asked what I had for snack at work (I always ask him what he had for snack at preschool). I said I don’t usually have snacks at work and just my lunch. He said “oh I think I should pack some yogurt raisins for you so you won’t be hungry.”
We always tell him he can’t have coffee because it will make him crazy. I stopped for coffee after work one day. He said “mom grown ups need espresso so they will be crazy right?” Then I said “do you want to be crazy?” And he said “of course I don’t!” And then he started talking about gravity and saying. “But if the world was crazy we would all fall off. But we don’t because there is gravity.” And I asked him how he knew about gravity. And he said “I know because I don’t fall off the earth!”
I got Kirk a ice cube tray for Christmas that makes huge cubes of ice for his scotch. Cooper wanted one the other day for his water so he took it out of the freezer and saw that a few cubes were missing. He said “oh, I guess someone had some scotch!”
And lately when I ask him to do something he said “aye aye captain!”
And I asked him the other day if he tooted and he said “nope, I sure didn’t!”
Does: He loves counting everything lately. He can count things up to twenty pretty easily, anything above twenty he usually needs help with.
He is also big on sorting things. The other day he took out all his construction trucks and fire trucks and sorted them by types. He showed me and said “These are the construction cones. These are loaders. These are backhoes. I know about these things because that was the first thing I learned when I was a little kid.”
He loves chasing and hiding games. His three favorite games to play now are
- hide and seek
- tigers and regular people (don’t know why he calls them regular people instead of just people) – when someone is a tiger and roars and chases after the regular people. When he catches them, he usually says “I’m a nice tiger” and gives you a hug.
- police and robbers – similar to tigers except the person chasing has to make a siren sound. When he catches you, he says “it’s ok. You did it on an accident. You don’t have to go to jail.”
