Does: He is always pretending to be a different animal. It’s usually a kitty or a skunk (be careful or he will pretend to spray you!).
Likes and Dislikes: This week Cooper has decided that volcanoes are the coolest thing ever. He wants to read all the books on volcanoes and only watch volcano videos. He can tell you all about volcanoes – he knows the difference between lava and magma, can tell you the different types of lava (he will tell you “that ‘aa’ lava is sharp and pointy and ‘pahoehoe’ lava is like ropes and is smooth.”), knows the difference between dormant and extinct volcanoes, and can even tell you all the places where volcanoes are located and their names. His memory amazes me. It’s so fun to see him get really into something – I think this surpasses his obsession with construction and garbage trucks (although he still loves that).
Cooper is really loving preschool and has been having so much fun. He comes home every day with different art projects. He asked me to hang them up in his room so he can look at them all the time.
Says: One morning he woke up and came into our room. There was a gorgeous sunrise and he said “oh wow mom. Look at the beauty sunrise. I think a volcano made it because it thought we would like it. I wonder if Beau (his friend that just moved to Japan) saw the volcano in Japan. Maybe one day we could go see the volcano in Japan!”
We went to the park the other day after it rained. Cooper wanted to go down the slide together and I said I didn’t want to go down it because it was wet. Cooper said “it’s just like a water slide!”
Activities: This weekend Cooper and I went to Highlands Ranch Days (while Kirk and my dad did some work on the never-ending project that the basement is turning into). Cooper loved riding the horses and petting all the animals at the petting zoo. Cooper also loved the blacksmith because he said the fire looked like a volcano.
