Another really quick post since Cooper and I got back from Canada on Wednesday. We had a great trip. The weather, unfortunately, didn’t cooperate with us most days and it was rainy and cooler – but it was still a great time! I’ll update more after I go through all the pictures. For now, just some quick photos taken with my iPhone.
Overall, the flights too and from PEI went pretty smoothly. On the way there, we had a 9 hour layover in Toronto which was definitely long. We did manage to fill most of it with naps, dinner, riding up and down escalators, and walking around. He didn’t really get cranky until the very end of the layover, but it was around his bedtime anyway. The flights home to Colorado were so much better than I expected! Cooper and I flew by ourselves (Kirk will come home on Sunday), and I was fully prepared to have lots of meltdowns and complaining. But Cooper was a champion world traveler. Luckily both flights home weren’t totally full, so a little bit into them the person I was sharing a row moved (they both assured me that Cooper was being well behaved and they just wanted to give us a little bit of room so he could maybe nap) and we had the whole row to ourselves. He occupied himself mostly with playing with ice, stickers, reading some books, a truck app on an old iPhone of mine, and watching some Elmo videos.
Sleeps: I fully expected Cooper’s sleep to me messed up with the 3 hour time difference, but he did great! He went to bed easily most days and napped pretty well. So far he’s adjusted to being back as well.
Eats: Cooper tried lobsters and scallops this week. He didn’t really care about the lobster (what?? how could he not love lobster??) – but he loved the scallops!
Says: I feel like he learned a ton of words this week. He can say yup, nope, nap, off, on, panda, shoes, bum (when he wants his bum changed), poop (even though he doesn’t say it when he poops), back (like when he wants you to come back or put something back), cookies, and I’m sure many more I’m forgetting about!
Likes and Dislikes: I think the thing that Cooper loved the best about Canada was all the animals (and the Tim Horton’s timbit donuts)! We went to the Exhibition at Old Home Week, and he loved seeing the cows and the horse races.
Social and Activity: Cooper met so many new people this week. He met his great-nanny Betty and promptly showed her that active little boys do not play nice with all her beautiful delicate decorations. He met Haley, his 2 uncles and aunt, and his cousins. He also met a few blog readers (hi Freda and Brenton) that Kirk grew up with. Overall, he was usually very friendly and was a big hit.
OK – that’s all for now. I’ll update with some more pictures soon!
