Health: Cooper’s knees are always covered with bumps and scratches. I guess that’s what being a very active toddler boy is all about!!
Sleeps: We are getting there! He usually sleeps totally through the night once or twice a week. Naps are great. He sleeps between 2-3 hours right after lunch. And he has zero problems going down. I usually put him in his crib, give him a few kisses, and then he plays and rolls around for about 15-20 minutes and then falls asleep with very little fussing.
Eats: Cooper has discovered ketchup and loves to put it on EVERYTHING! But he loves his veggies too. Yesterday for dinner he had green beans and fish. He ate everything on his plate – and then asked for more green beans! I’ll take it.
Says: Cooper says so much! Of course most of it isn’t understandable, but there are quite a few things that he knows and that we understand!! Here is the list of words Cooper can say:
- ma – when he says it kind of yelling and the a dragged out like maaaaaaa he means “mom”
- ma – when he says it softer like a question, he means “nie ma” which is Polish for all gone or not there. He says this all the time.
- da – kind of like with “mom,” when he says it kind of yelling it means “dad”
- da – “daj” or give in Polish
- dis – “this”
- ice – “ice” but he also uses it for water
- bup – “up”
- ba – “bottle”
- ba – “ball”
- ha – for “hot.” This is always accompanied by him lifting his hand over the hot thing to show he’s not touching it and/or blowing on it to cool it down.
- hi – “hi”
- uh-oh – for when he drops something
- he doesn’t say no yet (thankfully) but he sure will let you know if he doesn’t want something.
Does: He is getting so good at putting different shaped blocks in the correct whole in his shape sorter. He can identify so many body parts (eyes, nose, mouth, ears, hands, elbows, knees, feet, etc). He will also sit though almost all of “Goodnight Moon.” But he’s still not a big reader.
Likes and Dislikes: He loves ice. LOVES it. He wants ice with his water. He wants ice in bowls to play with. Ice ice ice. He also loves all of his stuffed animals and blankets. When we are reading our book before bed, he wants to sit on his rocking chair surrounded by all his blankets and animals.
He hates sunscreen and will always screen when we put it on. Maybe he doesn’t like the smell? I don’t know.
He loves turning lights off and on.
Social and Activity: This weekend we went to the local classic car show. Cooper also got another haircut (we’ve been getting his hair cut once every 2 months). He SCREAMED the entire time. Hmm – maybe we won’t be getting his hair cut again anytime soon. We also celebrated Father’s Day and spent some time at the park.
We did find a new day care lady. She will watch Cooper on Monday and Wednesday. He will start at the beginning of July.
I also signed Cooper up for a Tumble Tots class, basically Toddler Gymnastics. We start in the middle of July. Our rec center offers so many great classes for kids, so I’m sure we will be doing more things in the future!
Milestones: I think he’s getting a new tooth. It’s on the top left between his molar and his front ones. So – that would bring the total count of teeth to 13.
Weekly Random Moments: Babcia and dziadek bought Cooper this adorable table and chairs. He loves sitting in it. He will sometimes eat his snacks here, and he likes to sit there (for 30 seconds) and draw on his etch-a-sketch.
