Health: Cooper did great in Mexico! I know it’s normal to get stomach bug when traveling to Mexico, but he had nothing of the sort. No sunburn either thanks to the enormous amounts of sunscreen we slathered on him multiple times a day. He did however get a rash on his chest. You can kind of see it here. Notice what is in his right hand – a lime. He discovered limes towards the end of the week, and he loved them. He was constantly chewing on them. Well the combination of the sun and the limes gave him a rash at the top of his chest. Apparently “the juice and oil in limes contain light-sensitive chemicals called furocoumarins. On their own, furocoumarins are harmless, but when they come in contact with UV rays from the sun, they chemically transform into something very unpleasant for the skin. ” Cooper doesn’t seem to be uncomfortable, but the rash sure doesn’t look so great. We’ve been putting cream on it to help it go away.
Sleeps: Let’s just say that Mexico kind of ruined Cooper’s sleep again. So we are back to waking up a few times in the middle of the night.
Eats: My little foodie did so good in Mexico! He ate everything. He especially loved fish, pasta (of course) and all sorts of fruits (like limes unfortunately). He also loved this little breakfast pastries that had some custard in the middle.
Says: He learned to say “this” so now when he points to things he will either say it in English or Polish. He also learned to say “hi” and loved saying it to everyone on the beach around us. I also think this week he really took off in understanding what we say. He has been able to follow directions for quiet a while (bring mommy your shoes, etc. but he’s understanding so much lately!
Does: Some of Cooper’s favorite activities this week included playing in the sand, running in and out of the ocean, jumping in the waves with daddy, sitting at the bar and enjoying a cool breeze and people watching, chasing animals, and inspecting every light at the hotel. He also tries to put on his own shoes – he will put his feet up to the shoe but doesn’t quiet understand putting your foot IN the actual shoe yet. Soon though!
He also can “smile” on cue for pictures. All you have to say is “Cooper – show me your teeth” and he will give you this look.
He also has been doing lots and lots of handstands lately, usually to grab something that is behind him.
Social and Activity: There were lots of kids for Cooper to play with at the hotel. He was so sweet – he would go up to them and hug them. Some kids obviously didn’t like this – but others loved it and would hug him right back.
