Weight: 18 lbs 7 oz. He’s back up from last week.
Clothes: 9 month onesies are tight, 12 months fit best, and 18 months are a little loose but he can still wear them. Pants are 6-12 months. Diapers are size 3.
Health: You may remember a few weeks ago I mentioned Cooper’s low iron levels. So for the past few weeks we have been giving him the iron-fortified cereal, adding in some meat to his diet, and then I started up the pre-natal vitamins again to make sure I was getting enough iron to pass on to him. Last week I went to get his iron levels checked again and they had dropped slightly from last time. So we just have to bite the bullet and force him to take his really nasty tasting iron drops. We tried mixing them in with his peaches (and he could still taste them). Since he’s not a fantastic eater – I don’t really want to do anything that would turn him off food. We tried just giving them to him straight – but it was as bad as taking him out of his car seat a hundred times while putting in saline drops. So now he’s getting the drops in his bottle and it seems to be going ok. I did order some other iron drops off the internet. They are supposedly better tasting and they should arrive this week. So hopefully those will do the trick! So we will try all this for a few weeks and then check his iron/hemoglobin levels at the end of the month.
Sleep: His naps were all crazy this week. Some days he does his regular 2 longer naps. Some days he does 3 shorter naps. One day he even just did one crazy long nap. Needless to say he was exhausted that day by bed time. No real change in his sleeping at night – still gets up a couple of times to eat.
Crying: Pretty much just when he’s tired or hungry – or when you are trying to give him iron drops.
Social and Activity: We were supposed to have a lunch date with a couple of my friends on Thursday – but Cooper’s really long nap that day caused us to miss it. Boo. But this weekend we did do lots of fun things. We took Cooper to Belleview Park and then on Monday we went to the pool. It was his first time at the pool since Hawaii. We decided to go to the outdoor pool since it was the last day it was open. He was kind of hesitant at first. I think the water was colder than he would have liked. But he quickly got used to it and ended up having a lot of fun. I think we’ll be back to the indoor pool this fall and winter!
Likes and Dislikes: Likes animals, playing peekaboo and chase, and chewing on everything.
Dislikes riding in cars, getting in and out of his car seat, and taking his iron drops.
Diet: New foods this week include spinach and kiwi. I added in some store-bought puree to get in some more green veggies (because he didn’t seem to like the green puree that my mom and I made). One mix is spinach/kiwi/pear and another was spinach/peas/pear. He really seemed to like both!
He also had more cauliflower last night and ate it so quickly and without complaint. We gave him a second helping and he ate it as quickly as the first! Maybe he’s turning into a better eater?
Milestones: Cooper can sit up on his own now and only topples over every once in a while.
Still no teeth and not crawling – but he’s so close on both!! The lack of crawling is really frustrating him. He’s also getting good at “walking” around when he’s leaning up against something, like a coffee table.
