This is how Cooper spends his days – relaxing while dziadek works hard. Isn’t retirement fun?
At least they both got to rest later in the day.
Weight: 18 lbs 1 oz.
Clothes: Mostly 9 or 12 month old onesies and 6-12 month old pants/shorts. Size 3 diapers.
Health: He’s had a bit of a rash on his cheeks and right below his eyes most of the week. When he woke up on Saturday morning the rash seemed really bad and his eyes were puffy. So we called the pediatrician and they asked us to come in. Fortunately, it wasn’t anything to really be concerned about (like pink eye or some other infection). They think he’s having a reaction to something – we just, unfortunately, can’t tell exactly what it is. They recommended we switch from Aveeno face wash to something even milder, Cetaphil. It seems to help the rash a little bit, although it still kind of flares up at the end of the day. I think it has to do with seasonal allergies and him rubbing his eyes. So I guess it’s probably not the best that he likes to lay in the grass.
Sleep: He’s actually doing better than expected with his naps. I figured that starting day care would really throw him off – but he did pretty well. He went down for his morning naps at day care a bit later than normal – but I think he’s just excited by all the other kiddos and doesn’t really want to sleep.
Crying: Nothing really out of the ordinary here. He’s starting to laugh a lot and it’s just the best sound in the world.
Social and Activity: Lots of socialization for Cooper this week! He started day care on Monday. Right now he will only be going 2 days a week (Monday and Tuesday), and will be spending Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday with babcia and dziadek. There are a wide range of kids at his day care (from 10 weeks to 4 years) and from what I can tell he really loves interacting with all of the older kids.
Likes and Dislikes: Likes baths. Dislikes showers. He is still LOVING driving around in his little push car. He loved playing peek-a-boo, and he loves playing “chase” around the house. Kirk or I will take turns holding him while we chase the other person. Cooper thinks this game is just fantastic.
Diet: Still breastfeeding. This week we also added in beets (which he wasn’t crazy about at first), apples, and peaches. We diced up the peaches into really small pieces, and he couldn’t get enough of them!
Here he is eating beets – looks a little scary!
He’s also been drinking out of his straw cup more and more. So far we have only given him water in it. He gets most of it on his clothes – but he loves being in control of the cup.
Milestones: Cooper turned 200 days old on Sunday! Wow! We are still keeping up with the chalkboard – but I usually only update it once a week.
He’s doing great sitting up and can sit up for longer periods of time. He still will lean back and fall down pretty easily. So far we’ve been catching him or only letting him fall down when he’s playing on a blanket in the grass (to cushion his fall). I’m guessing he doesn’t really realize that falling back can hurt him – so he hasn’t learned not to do it.
There hasn’t been any developments on the crawling front – he’s still trying so hard but he’s not quite there!
Weekly Random Moments: I was so worried about him starting day care – but he seems to really love it so far! He had a much easier time than I did the first day during drop off. I will admit to a few tears on my drive to work that day. Here are two pictures his day care lady sent me the first day to help make me feel better.
