Weight: 17 lbs 5 oz. I’ll have his official percentages next week after his pediatrician’s appointment.
Clothes: Mostly in 9 or 12 month clothes. He’s a long boy so he doesn’t fill them out totally, but he needs the extra length.
Health: Great health except for some minor allergies. I have a feeling the week he starts day care he will get sick.
Sleep: Sleeping is going much better than before. He gets up once between 11pm and midnight – but puts himself back to sleep within a few minutes. Then gets up to eat sometime around 2-3 am. I would love to get through the whole night with him only waking up once – but at least he’s back to only eating once a night!
Crying: When he’s tired or hungry. He does get fussy in the evenings before bed.
Likes and Dislikes: Nothing really new – likes being outside, seeing the world, putting everything in his mouth. Is back to liking his bath this week.
Dislikes getting taken in and out of his car seat and loud startling noises.
Diet: This week Cooper added peas and avocados to his menu. He had a little trouble with his peas at first – I don’t think I pureed them enough. But we pureed them again and he liked them much better. He eats so much better during the day then if we try to feed him in the evenings – so maybe we will stick with solid foods just once a day.
Baby Gear Love: Anything that can be frozen. Cooper LOVES sucking on cold frozen things. Also these cups have been great. Cooper likes to drink a little water when he eats – but can’t quite get the hang of tipping a sippy cup up. So the soft straw on these is perfect – it won’t hurt his mouth and he can easily drink out of it. And the handles make it so he can easily hold the cup by himself!
Milestones: Cooper turned 6 months this week. I can’t believe he is half a year old.
Cooper also got his first haircut this weekend. Kirk was getting his haircut and Cooper’s hair was a bit scraggly in back – so Kirk’s stylist offered to trim up the back for Cooper. It looks so much better now!
He’s getting better and better at sitting up independently, but still topples over pretty easily.
Weekly Random Moments: Well – it was a very stressful week for us. We are looking at buying a rental property in Downtown Denver, and we wrote an offer on a place. Our offer got accepted (which is great news) but now it’s going to be a whirlwind few weeks for us with the inspection, appraisal, trying to finalize the financing, and finding a tenant – all in time for closing in a few weeks.
To top it off, we got a call on Monday afternoon from our daycare lady. Cooper was supposed to start daycare 3 days a week in August. Well, the daycare lady broke her arm over the weekend and had already had a few surgeries to fix it. So she wouldn’t be able to hold and carry babies for 3-4 months. So that means that Cooper won’t be able to go there. And babcia and dziadek are going to Europe for 3 weeks at the end of August so we really needed to find a new daycare person ASAP. So Monday night I called around to a bunch of different places to see what they had in the way of part-time infant openings (infant openings are hard to come by – much less part-time ones!). I actually found a lady who has an opening for 2 days a week and lives just a street away from my parents. I got a really great feeling from talking to her over the phone, and so we will be interviewing her in person this weekend. So hopefully it all goes well! If it does – it might even be a better situation. My parents actually wanted to watch him 3 days a week instead of 2 – and the actual days he would go are better for everyone involved. So I’m crossing my fingers that she will be a fit for us!
