Kirk is great at so many things with Cooper – but not so great about just randomly picking up the camera and taking pictures of me and Cooper together. Hence why there are so many pictures of Cooper or Cooper and his dad, and not so many of Cooper and me. So I have to resort to taking the pictures myself so the poor kid doesn’t think I didn’t spend any time with him when he was little.
Weight: 16 lbs 5 oz. Cooper is definitely slowing down in his weight gain. Instead of an ounce a day, it’s more like a couple of ounces a week.
Clothes: His 6 month clothes is tight – so he’s pretty much wearing 9 month clothes. And we are in size 3 diapers.
Health: Cooper is still taking Prevacid for his reflux. The pediatrician said we could try stopping it at any time and see if he still needs it, but I think we are going to hold off for a little while – at least until he starts solid foods next month.
His hair has been falling out and he has been pulling it out (this has been happening for a few weeks now). I hope that his full head of hair will come in again soon!
He was also super constipated this week (sorry if that’s TMI) – but once he got everything out he felt much better! Don’t we all?
Sleep: So after last week’s strong sleeping performance, we are back to waking up twice at night. We’ve tried adjusting his daytime napping schedule (for 2-3 naps instead of 3-4 naps) so maybe that will help.
Crying: When he’s tired but doesn’t want to go to sleep, and when he wants to eat and you don’t give him food fast enough.
Social and Activity: Saturday we went to Cassie and Chad’s house for a BBQ. There were so many kiddos!! I think Cooper was overwhelmed with all the people, but also really liked the other kids. Hopefully this is a good sign for when he starts day care in August.
Likes and Dislikes: Likes being naked, chewing on cold things (could be teething or just because of the hot weather), being outside, blowing bubbles, and looking at pictures in books.
Hates getting saline drops for his stuffy nose and getting in and out of his car seat.
Diet: No change here. I am debating what I want his first solid food to be. I know the traditional first solid food is white rice cereal, but I think that sounds so bland and devoid of nutrients. He has such an interest in what we are eating and drinking that I don’t want to waste this first chance to introduce him to foods. I’m thinking some sweet potatoes or avocaods – or at least brown rice cereal.
Baby Gear Love: Our high chair! He’s been sitting in it while we eat dinner. It’s a nice change from us holding him while we alternate eating.
Milestones: He’s really working on sitting up by himself. Hopefully that will happen soon because I know he would like seeing the word from a different angle.
Weekly Random Moments: Kirk put his old bike helmet on Cooper. I don’t think he knew what to make of it.
