Look who is 5 months old!
And look who can stand (only for a few seconds and only when kind of propped up).
Weight: 16 lbs 3 oz
Clothes: His 9 month onesies are starting to get tight. I purposely bought a size larger than he needed hoping to get through the summer with them, but it looks like that might not be the case. Luckily his 9 month one-pieces still fit him…..for now.
Health: Allergies, allergies, allergies. Poor kiddo’s nose is always stuffed up.
Sleep: This week has been so much better!! He’s only been waking up once a night. Oh, the sleep! I love the extra sleep!!! Hopefully this continues this week.
He also does great sleeping outside. This is how he sleeps at babcia’s house when the weather is nice.
Crying: No real change here. Pretty much just when he’s tired or hungry. He also gets fussy when he’s bored with a toy or his surroundings.
Social and Activity: We had neighbors that moved in about a year ago (and we had never met them before – we are slackers). They just had a little girl in December. On Wednesday night, we went over to introduce ourselves, and Cooper and Stella met for the first time.
Friday I met a friend for coffee and some shopping at the mall.
Saturday night we went over to our friend’s house for a BBQ – and their little girl loved playing with Coop. And he loved playing with her too.
Sunday we spent the afternoon at my parent’s house to celebrate Father’s Day.
Likes and Dislikes: Likes baths, being outside, being naked, blowing bubbles/raspberries, listening to music and playing on the piano.
He also likes grabbing all of his body parts. So this is where the Happy Baby yoga pose name comes from.
Dislikes getting in and out of his car seat. He doesn’t mind actually sitting in it – just the process of getting in and out is like torture for him.
Diet: No real change here. We did start giving Coop iron drops (per our pediatrician’s recommendation). Wow – those things taste horrible!! Coop loves getting his vitamin D drops – but these were just bad. Really bad. Even mixing them in milk would taste bad. I don’t want to give him an aversion to bottles (been there, done that, don’t want to go through it again). Plus, the drops made him not poop for 2 days. I did some more research and the recommendation is just a general one given by pediatricians. Most babies don’t require supplemental iron. So we are going to hold off on the drops for now. I’m going to up the iron in my diet, and see where we are at his 6 month appointment.
Milestones: He’s doing wonderfully at tummy time. He’s actually kind of liking it. And he’s doing so good at grasping for toys and moving them from one hand to the other.
Weekly Random Moments: Every time I go into the dining room with Cooper, he was eyeing up his high chair. So, we put him in it for the first time to see how he would like it. And he did great!! We’ll keep practicing with it so when it’s time to start foods in a few weeks, he’ll be used to it.
