Weight: His official stats from his 4 month pediatrician’s appointment:
- Weight: 15 lbs, 6 oz (60th percentile)
- Height: 26 inches (80th percentile)
- Head Size: 41.9 cm (30th percentile)
He’s a long skinny boy!
Clothes: Still in 6 month clothes, with a few 9 month onesies. He’s wearing size 2 diapers but they are starting to get tight.
Health: The pediatrician said Cooper is a perfect boy! He does have some minor health issues – but nothing out of the ordinary.
We are still dealing with his eczema. She she recommends treating using unscented body wash and lotions on him – which we have been doing. He is still taking his reflux medicine. She said we could try to go a few days without it and see how he reacts. We will probably try this when his current medicine is about to run out.
Sleep: We are still struggling on the sleeping front. He goes down about 8:30 each night with no problems. But then he’s waking up 3-5 times a night. I only feed him once somewhere between 2:30-3:30. The other times he wakes up he can put himself back to sleep within 10-15 minutes. He’s napping pretty good during the day. He usually has one long 2.5 hour nap, and then a few shorter naps.
He has been rolling over on his side when he sleeps sometimes.
Crying: He was a little fussier than normal this weekend, which I attributed to teething. But the pediatrician says he’s not teething yet because his gums aren’t inflamed.
Social and Activity: This weekend was Memorial Day – so it was a nice long (and busy!!) weekend for us. Friday night my girlfriend came over to babysit for us after Cooper went to bed. It was our 10 year anniversary and Kirk and I went to dinner. It was our first date night away from him. Saturday we had one of our favorite couples over for a BBQ and Cooper was able to play with them for a while. Sunday we went to a friend’s BBQ downtown – Cooper wasn’t really into this BBQ and got pretty fussy so we had to cut our visit short. Monday we all spent the afternoon at babcia and dziadek’s house.
Likes and Dislikes: He loves grabbing and everything – especially anything brightloy colored like flowers – and putting it in his mouth.
He still loves being outside and loves laying under trees looking up at the leaves. We did a lot of yardwork this weekend (well Kirk did most of it and I helped when I could), and there were a few times he would lay under the tree and keep himself occupied for like 15-20 minutes so I could help Kirk.
We also discovered this week that Cooper loves hanging upside down. He will laugh and laugh when you put him down, and then look up at you like he wants to go again.
Diet: Still only breastfeeding while with me and bottles of milk that I pump while I’m at work. We did discuss introducing solid foods at our appointment, and the pediatrician recommended waiting until 6 months to introduce them. She thinks that the eczema could be indicative of allergies and asthma, and doesn’t want to make anything worse by introducing foods too soon.
Baby Gear Love: Our video monitor. I love being able to see him in the middle of the night when he wakes up. I can tell if I need to go in his room, or if I can just let him try to put himself back to sleep. If I went and checked on him all the time, I think it would wake him up even more.
Milestones: Cooper got his passport! Now we will work on getting him his Canadian and Polish citizenship. Cooper Taylor – International Man of Mystery!
Weekly Random Moments: Not really Cooper related – but we hung up some artwork of some photos that I took in Hawaii.
And we found some robin’s eggs in one of our trees.
