Weight: 15 lbs 0 oz! We have our 4-month pediatrician’s appointment next week so I’ll have updated height stats too.
Clothes: Still mostly in 6 month clothes, with a few 9 month onesies. Anything that’s 3 months is too small.
Health: Cooper has some eczema and a little bit of heat rash. The heat rash is from the Hawaiian heat, but I don’t know what the eczema is from. We have just been keeping is moisturized to make sure it doesn’t get worse.
Sleep: The time zone changes have definitely been challenging for Cooper. He’s been waking up more than normal throughout the night (like every hour to hour and a half). Sometimes he will put himself back to sleep and sometimes he needs to be nursed. Hopefully this will work itself out now that we are back home.
Crying: With all the traveling and different schedules, Cooper has been more fussy than normal. I think he loved seeing new things and exploring (he’s such a curious kid!!) but it is exhausting and sometimes over-stimulating. I think he had a hard time going to sleep because he wanted to stay up and see everything, which leads to him being over-tired which makes him cranky and cry.
Social and Activity: Had lots of social time with the family in Hawaii. He did see another baby while we were picking up our rental car (the little boy was about the same size as Cooper) and they just spent a few minutes laughing and smiling at each other. It was really cute.
Likes and Dislikes: He loves when we walk him around, facing outward, so he can explore the world. He also loves his daily piano time. Before bath, I either play the piano for him or have him sit with me and let him play for a little while. He loves looking at all the notes on the sheet music.
He also likes sticking out his tongue and putting everything in his mouth.
Diet: No changes here – I’m still not eating dairy, he’s still breastfeeding and doing bottles when I’m at work.
Baby Gear Love: The adorable skull patterned diapers that we bought for Hawaii. We figured if he was just going to be hanging out in just diapers some of the time, they might as well be cute!
Milestones: Cooper turned 4 months old while we were in Hawaii!! I can’t believe he is 4 months old. Time sure has flown by.
Weekly Random Moments: Cooper’s second flight didn’t go as smoothly as his first. We took the red-eye home from Hawaii, which left at 10pm and arrived at 8:30am in Colorado. We were lucky enough to score first class seats when we booked our tickets with miles, thinking the extra seat room would be nice for sleeping. We also were able to board really early so I thought I could nurse him before we took off and he would fall asleep. As soon as we boarded, Cooper started screaming. Nothing would calm him. He didn’t want to nurse (even though he hadn’t eaten in a while), wasn’t soothed by rocking or walking around. I felt so horrible for him (because there was clearly something wrong) and for everyone around us. Luckily he fell asleep right as we were taking off. He slept through the whole flight, only waking up once to eat. Kirk held him for the first part and I held him for the second. Needless to say, we didn’t get much sleep and were exhausted the next day.
