Cooper and Daddy are twins!
Weight: After a slow week weight gain wise last week, Cooper picked up the pace this week and is now weighing 10 lbs 9 oz. He definitely had a growth spurt this week.
Clothes: Still wearing his 0-3 month clothes and they fit him good.
Health: No additional scares this week. I have been checking his diapers, and there is no sign of blood. So I think cutting the milk out of my diet is helping. I really really really miss cheese – but it’s worth it!
We also got ok from the doctor to switch from Zantac to Prevacid to see if that helps with his reflux. So far, I think it’s helping a little bit. It’s harder to give to him since it’s a pill instead of a liquid like the Zantac was. We have to crush it up and feed it to him, but it doesn’t really dissolve very well.
Sleep: I think we had a major setback for most of this week. Instead of waking up once a night for a feeding, he is now waking up multiple times during the night. I hope it was just his growth spurt causing him to be extra hungry and he will go back to his normal sleeping sometime soon. The only really good night was last night, when he slept from 10pm to 4am – 6 hours! I, of course, was up about 2am wondering why he wasn’t awake and hungry. So I didn’t get much more sleep.
It amazes me what positions he can sleep in. This is one of his favorite.
Crying: He still has lots of fussy time but I feel like it is slowly getting better and better. Each day I see more smiles and laughs and less and less crying. I think it’s a combination of the diet changes, medicine, and figuring out what his cries are signaling so I can better respond.
Social and Activity: Auntie Dom and Uncle DH came for a visit on Saturday night. They couldn’t believe how much Coop had grown since they saw him in January.
He is also been so much more alert lately. You can really tell his enjoys looking around and taking in the world around him. He is always moving around his legs and arms.
He will even push himself off his mat when he is laying on it. In this picture, he started out in the middle of the mat and ended up pushing himself off of it.
We have been going in more and more walks outside. Hopefully the weather stays nice so we can continue.
Likes and Dislikes: He’s still loving his activity mat. He is getting really good at swatting the toys on the mat.
He also still loves his bath and then naked time after. This kid just loves to have his clothes off. It will be nice when summer comes so he can be naked more without me worrying if he’s cold.
He has also been liking his bouncy chair (finally!!!) and will sit in it most mornings while I take a shower.
I also got him in the swing once this week without crying. It only lasted 2 minutes before he broke down, but it’s progress!!!
Diet: Just breastfeeding this week. My milk supply was still reduced for a few days after we switched off the formula and I felt like he was so hungry all week and wanted to feed all the time and there just wasn’t enough to give him. But I continued to feed him frequently and pump after feedings, and on Saturday I really felt like my milk came back in fully. What a relief!
Baby Gear Love: The activity mat is the best baby related purchase. (I know I mention the mat all the time but it’s really been a favorite in our house for the past month). I got it for $20 at an After Thanksgiving Day sale, and so far he has been using it a few times a day for 10-20 minutes per time. Talk about a great cost average per use.
Milestones: I opened a bank account for Cooper this week. Now he can start saving for his first million dollars.
He is also smiling more and more each day. I never get tired of him smiling at me.
He is also getting really good at lifting his head up while on his belly. He tries to lift his whole body up as well and move his legs around like he wants to crawl. I know it’s much too early for actual crawling any time soon – but it’s just crazy to me to see how much he improves each time he gets put on his belly.
