Weight: My parents got us a baby scale since I was so worried about his weight gain. Now I don’t have to wait until my 2 month appointment to see how he’s gaining weight. So I have been weighing him a couple of times a week. He currently is weighing 8 lbs 5 or 6 oz.
Health: Coop had a little bit of a cold on Sunday and Monday (probably caught what I had) – but I think he’s feeling much better now. Luckily it seems that he caught a much less severe cold than I had. Yay for the antibodies I gave him during breastfeeding!
Sleep: Overall I think he does well at sleeping – and has been doing great at night. Hopefully this is a sign that it will be easy to transition to sleeping through the night when he is ready.
Crying: We think Cooper is colicky. He has a very fussy time early in the morning after his 6am feeding, and then is fussy most of the evening (from like 5pm-10pm). We have tried so many things to calm him down – swaddling, singing, rocking, gripe water, etc. Nothing seems to work for more than a few minutes. During the day and overnight, he is (usually) very good. From everything I read there is no real cure and it should go away by about 12 weeks. So basically we have another 9 weeks of this to look forward to.
Clothes: Still wearing newborn or 0-3. His newborn sized diapers are snug so once we are finished with our current box – we are moving him up to Size 1 diapers.
Social and Activity: For some reason, Cooper loves when we carry him and down the stairs. It calms him down almost right away. It means that I’m walking up and down the stairs a lot – in-home Stairmaster! We have been trying a little tummy time each day – but so far he isn’t a fan of it.
Diet: Slowly the breastfeeding is getting easier and easier each day. We are both getting more comfortable with it. I am definitely not a professional – but I am not as stressed out about it.
Baby Gear Love: I started wearing Cooper in a Moby a little bit. He loves being so close to me and it leaves my hands free. It is such a pain to tie though. I really wish there was something easier to get him in and out of.
We also love the SwaddleMes. Coop sleeps in these each night and I think he really is comforted by them.
Milestones: We took some impressions of Cooper’s footprints last week while his feet are still so tiny. I tried to get his hands instead – but he wasn’t having any of it.
