More than a month after we started, I’m finally ready to show you how our floors turned out!!
We moved out for about 2 weeks while the floors were actually being installed, sanded, and stained. We didn’t want to live in a construction zone and I didn’t think it was a good idea to be breathing in stain fumes while I was pregnant. We were able to move back in a couple of weeks ago, but have been doing some final touch ups mostly on the stairs and I was waiting until that was all finished to show them off. Our deal with the flooring guys was we would finish off the trim around the stairs and paint the risers ourselves, so over the past few weeks Kirk and my dad have been working on finishing them up. They both did an awesome job and it turned out amazing!!
We had the whole main floor done a few years ago and have just been waiting to do the whole upstairs until we could save up the money. I know that some people don’t like wood floors in bedrooms, but we both love it. Our last house had hardwoods on all levels and we wanted this one to be the same. I just think it’s so much cleaner! With carpet, it doesn’t matter how often you vacuum, you just never really know what’s in there. Breathing in who knows what all night long can’t be good for you. Plus, I just love the way it looks 🙂
