After the wedding, we headed to the southern part of Poland to visit Krakow. Krakow is a beautiful city – whose buildings were largely spared during the war. It was the capital of Poland until 1596 and is filled with so many beautiful and historic buildings.
St. Mary’s Basilica
Remanents of the Old Ghetto walls
Oskar Schindler’s Factory
While in Krakow, we visited Wieliczka Salt Mine (read more on it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wieliczka_Salt_Mine). In addition to being one of the oldest operating salt mines in the world, it is filled with amazing sculptures and chapels carved out of salt! You can even lick the salt walls and taste it. The pictures don’t even do it justice!
Just our luck – our visit coincided with the annual pierogi festival. Talk about perfect timing!
